Python Job: Senior Cloud Engineer

The Company

Robert Half are currently seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join an international SAAS business with an awesome technology platform in the educational space.

Our client has a technology team based in Ireland but are truly global, with offices in Australia, the United States, Canada, Italy, and India. The organisation was founded in the early 2000s but have grown to become true experts in their space, they are highly respected within higher education.

This organisation employs around 300 people internationally, you will be joining a cross-functional technology team including Developers, Testers, and fellow Cloud / SRE Engineers.

You will work completely remotely but will most likely be based in Ireland, where you can meet fellow team members for the occasional community day.

The Role

This technical role is to maintain, manage and continuously improve their SaaS platform, build, deployment, and system processes. Our client requires engineers who can innovate and drive change in development and operation practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Use Terraform and Kubernetes daily to build and manage their platform in AWS
• Develop internal tools using Python
• Manage and continuously develop an AWS-based infrastructure as code to automatically handle continuous integration, rolling deployments, failover, auto-scaling, and backups using: AWS EC2, RDS/Aurora, S3, IAM, EKS, SQS, ElastiCache, CloudHSM, ECR and CloudWatch
• Implement and fine-tune continuous build processes using Jenkins with Docker, Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL and other integrations, including our internal tools
• Monitor and analyse metrics/logs using tools such as Pingdom, Site24x7, SumoLogic, Cloudwatch etc.
• Work with an expert security monitoring team to resolve any security issues as they arise
• Continuously develop our CI/CD for infrastructure and application components

Your Profile

You will contribute as a Senior Cloud Engineer. You should have significant cloud experience and you should be comfortable contributing autonomously.

Reporting to the CTO, you will work in a culture of providing simple solutions with clean, scalable, and testable code.

You will have:

• Prior experience in a similar role
• Proven commercial experience using AWS, Python and Kubernetes
• An ability to contribute independently as well as being collaborative
• A passion for working remotely
• Valid working rights in Ireland and the UK
• Sponsorship potentially available for those based in Ireland or the UK physically
